The Americas Society in celebration of Dominican Week and in association of the Council of the Americas, the Dominican-American Chamber of Commerce and the Dominican American Assistance Fund will be hosting a luncheon, presentation and discussion by Her Excellency Milagros Ortíz Bosch, Vice President of the Dominican Republic. The presentation is set for Tuesday, 3 October 2000. A reception will be held from 12 noon to 12:30 pm at the Americas Society, which is located at 680 Park Avenue in New York City. Vice President Milagros Ortíz Bosch was sworn in as Vice President and Minister of Education in August 2000. She previously served twice as senator for the National District (Santo Domingo. Prior to this, Vice President Ortíz has held several positions in the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD). She is a former member of the National Judiciary Council, where she participated in the reform of the Supreme Court of Justice. As part of the same event, that morning, a presentation on doing business in the DR will be held from 800-9:30 am. The Dominican Republic: Business Hub in the Caribbean presentation will be given by Frederic Emam-Zadé, the leading free trade agreement negotiator of the DR and former Vice Minister of Foreign Relations. Other speakers are Ramón Martínez Aponte, general manager Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina; Ellis Pérez, communications director for Aeropuertos Dominicanos (Aerodom) and Georges Santoni, partner, Russin, Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti.
