El Siglo newspaper publishes statistics today that indicate that private schools make up only 20.35% of the student body in elementary to high school. As of the end of last year, there were 2,088,574 students enrolled in schools, of which 1,663,559 (79.4%) were registered in public schools and 425,005 (20.3%) in private schools.
