The Mejía cabinet met in Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez province. Following the weekend meeting, President Hipólito Mejía announced the construction of a free zone in Nagua and another in Río San Juan. He also announced the construction of schools, a branch of the state university, highways, streets, rural roads, aqueducts, clinics, a postal office, a housing project, a regional hospital and the completion of paralyzed government works. He authorized the continuing of the Aglipo III rice project, a RD$2,500 million investment, primarily funded by the government of Japan. A covered sport venue will be built in Nagua, one of 22 programmed to be built all around the country.
