Jose Ovalle, director of the Corporación de Fomento Industrial that operates 16 state-owned free zone parks announced that the government is interested in selling these to the private business. Preference will be given to owners of businesses already operating in each free zone. Ovalle said that the money would be used for the government to continue building free zones throughout the country. Fomento has free zones under construction in Monte Cristi, Azua, Hato Nuevo, Quisqueya, San Juan de la Maguana. Others are about to start in Nagua, Río San Juan and La Vega. Ovalle spoke at a business luncheon in La Vega.
