The Dominican national volleyball team won the Euro-Volley Cup 2000 that took place in the Palermo, Italy volleyball venue. The Dominican women defeated Volley Leccara de Catania in the finals. News reports point to the high level of play in the event. Several high caliber players from Russia participated in the event, as well as spectacular Brazilian player, Fiorella Sesti.
