Minister of Public Works Miguel Vargas Maldonado said that the construction of the athletes village and other facilities for the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo will generate over 9,000 jobs. He said residents in the Andrés and Boca Chica areas east of Santo Domingo will be those most to benefit. He estimated the construction of the athletes village adjacent to the Santo Domingo Cyberpark will generate 5,000 jobs, and the construction and repair of sports venues and other facilities in Santo Domingo another 4,000 jobs.
