PLD approves freedom of speech for members

The Political Committee of the Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) has approved that no person can be penalized or expelled from that political party for expressing an opinion. Secretary General of the party, José Tomás Pérez said that the committee agreed that members could speak up publicly, though personal accusations should be avoided. Pérez said the measure applies from top to bottom of the party hierarchy. The announcement is part of a series of measures being adopted pending approval of the November Congress and that seek to bring the PLD into the modern times.
