Minister of Sports Cesar Cedeño said that repairs to the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center will cost over RD$250 million. He said the remodeling of the more than 25-year old main sports center of Santo Domingo has already started. The JPD Olympic Center will be principal site of the 2003 Santo Domingo Pan Am Games. Minister Cedeño made the announcement while speaking to sports editors at a luncheon at the Club Los Prados. Cedeño also announced the government would invest RD$20 million in the La Barranquita sports complex that was built for the 1986 Central American and Caribbean Sports Games.
