Three children attending a birthday party in the village of La Piedra, in Cotui, were killed, and three others were hospitalized, when a light truck swerved off the highway and smashed into the house where the celebration was taking place. The accident was blamed on poor road conditions at that location which caused the driver to loose control of the vehicle. Ten other accidents, including one fatality, have been reported on that same stretch of road.
