Speaking on behalf of the entire seven-member tribunal, Supreme Court Magistrate Julio Anibal Suarez announced that all judges would be subject to an annual evaluation, to be conducted by the high court, each year. The purpose of the evaluation is not to ?eliminate? judges, but to ?train them so they can better fulfill duties? said Suarez, adding that many judges are ?afraid? of Supreme Court evaluations. Nevertheless, the high court would not refrain from evaluations ?because some judges have thin skin,? he said. ?Those who are afraid of evaluation are not doing a good job.? Taking into consideration all levels of the judicial system, there are 544 sitting judges in the country.
