A band of bank robbers who stole DR$650,000 (around US$39,000) at gun point from a branch of the BHD Bank in Santiago last October 4, were apprehended by agents of the Cibao Central Police Command. Some DR$411,000 of the stolen cash was recovered, and police took into custody over US$1,400, two motor bikes, cellular telephones, beepers, pistols, expensive clothing, gold rings and chains, and a two-way radio. Pavel Amaury Garcia Pe?a, Christopher Alberto Pe?a, and Jacinto Alberto Medina, and Elizette Tavares Burgos are now in custody and charged with the crime. ?We had to spend several nights dressed as good time girls flirting with Pavel so that he would reveal the hiding place of the money. He named four different hiding places and that?s why it took us so long to find out,? said a police official who asked not to be identified.
