World youth bowling tournament starts tomorrow

Teams from thirty-five countries will compete for the World?s Juvenile Bowling Championship starting Saturday, October 28. The competition will be staged at Santo Domingo?s Sebelen Bowling Center. President Hipolito Mejia will bowl the first frame. Teenage competitors from Ireland and Qatar were the first to arrive, and most other teams are expected today. The event, which will be locally televised, will pit teams from the same geographical regions against one another. The Americas division champion will compete with European, African, and Asian divisions. The Ministry of Sports and Physical Education has provided financial support for the event, the first of its kind ever staged in Santo Domingo, as have local corporations and international firms with a presence in the DR.
