A plan to add 8,000 additional recruits will be added to the ranks of the National Police (PN) was revealed by the Chief of Police, General Pedro De Jesus Candelier. Yesterday?s announcement included few details, but was described as one component of a comprehensive modernization plan for the PN. The plan is already underway with the enrollment of new recruits in the Police Academy. Better salaries, subsidized housing acquisition, social security and family medical benefits will aid recruitment of better quality personnel, said Candelier. A new fingerprinting data collection department is another component of the PN?s contemplated modernization.
