TWA to operate Boston-Puerto Plata flight

Trans World Airlines announced it is adding new seasonal flights to the Dominican Republic as part of a general expansion in the Caribbean of the airline. "As we have grown, our Caribbean network becoming the second-largest U.S. airline in the region, we have found that a profitable way to enhance our schedule is through cooperative scheduling and marketing with leading tour packagers," commented Jack Stelzer, TWA’s senior vice president of planning. "We can give the tour companies the seats they need, and TWA benefits from a reliable revenue stream. We’re expanding the concept to new markets in the Caribbean and elsewhere." The GWV tour operator will be marketing TWA flights out of Boston to Puerto Plata. TWA will begin service with one roundtrip each Saturday beginning on December 23rd, 2000. TWA will operate these flights with MD-83 aircraft. In addition to these new flights, TWA and the tour operator Travel Impressions will offer service from Newark Airport in New Jersey to Punta Cana in the East of the Dominican Republic starting December. The airline has also added a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico and another to New York City from Santo Domingo. TWA flies approximately two million passengers per month on more than 825 daily flights to 100 destinations (including seasonal service) in North America, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East. TWA tickets are available for purchase through TWA Reservations at 1-800-221-2000, through travel agents, and through TWA’s website at http://www.twa.com (13 November 2000)
