Johnathan Jaime Sanchez, president of Visa International for Latin America, told the Listín Diario that almost half of the all-inclusive holiday packages purchased abroad are paid for using visa credit cards. These amount to about US$1,200 million. In the DR, tourists use their Visa credit cards to make about 20% of their purchases, injecting US$250 million into the economy. He said that Visa has 67% of the credit card market share in the Dominican travel industry. (13 November 2000)
