55 of every 100 Dominicans rated the first 100 days of government of Hipólito Mejía as "good." According to the most recent Hamilton Beattie Staff-Hoy survey, carried out 11-15 November, 40% feel he has not done a good job. Of those that have a good opinion, 17% think he has done an excellent job, and 38% say the Mejía administration has been a good government. Of those that dissent, 25% said it has been a bad start, and 15% say it has been a very bad start. The survey shows women having a more negative vision of the present government with 41% valuing it as a bad government, versus 38% of men. The same survey of 1,000 Dominicans, 75% in urban areas and 25% in rural areas, showed that 35% think the DR is headed in the right direction, 30% feel it is going in the wrong direction and 29% say it is just doing okay. Of every 100 Dominicans, 43 expect their economic situation to improve from here to a year, 28% believe it will get worse, and 16% believe it will remain the same.
