The new director of the Corporacion Dominicana de Empresas Estatales (Corde), Felix Calvo favors the outright sale of Dominicana de Aviación, the grounded state airline. He said in an interview in El Siglo that the process of organizing a tender is advanced. He also favors selling Pidoca (the paint factory) and the Industria Nacional del Papel (paper factory). He also would like the government to sell its participation in privatized companies. In his opinion, it would be best for Corde to disappear. "I would like to be able to announce that in 30 days Corde will disappear because when the state has assets there is always someone who wants a part of them," he said. (22 November 2000)
