Journalist Ana Mitila Lora in a report on the first 100 days of the Hipólito Administration in the Listin Diario newspaper concluded that the reduction of power outages and the signing of the Caracas Pact authorizing 24,000 more barrels of petroleum at good financial terms are among the key achievements of the present government. The two page item’s headline "Between summits and ‘mangú" (mashed plantains) refers to the international exposure and travels of President Mejía as well as to the proposal to serve mashed plantains in public schools. On the negative side, the reporter pointed out that little has advanced regarding the promise to resolve the garbage collection issue in Santo Domingo, now seen as a losing battle. She estimated the time change as one of the most unfortunate decisions, and says that there have not been major steps taken to alleviate poverty or corruption, rather the headline-making cases of Felix Bautista and Luis Ynchausti.
