Minister of Industry and Commerce Angel Lockward said that as soon as President Mejía signs the petroleum bill into law, fuel prices will go up. A 100 lb. cylinder of propane gas will cost RD$450, the gallon of premium gasoline RD$41, the unleaded regular RD$36, premium diesel RD$27 and regular RD$25. These prices will fluctuate as per world market fuel prices. President Mejía has announced the bill is tops on his agenda for when he returns from Mexico. If the bill is signed into law, this would be the second fuel increase by the Mejía government in less than six months.
