The First Family was on hand to participate in the official lighting of the National Palace Christmas tree. First Lady Rosa Gómez de Mejía invited her daughters and daughters-in-law and her grandchildren to be present for what could be a new tradition. Father Luis Rosario blessed the tree and a small choir sung Christmas carols. The First Lady was accompanied by her daughters Carolina and Lisa, her daughters in law Nancy and Yanet and grandchildren Felipe, Hipolito, Manuel, Juan, Diego, Ramon and Andrea. The sister of the President, Isabel Mejía de Grullón was also there with her daughters Maria Isabel, Laura and Ada.
