The National Police suspects a foreman of attempted murder of about 25 persons employed in a San Cristóbal farm in the Southwest. The workers and the owner of the farm, Salustiano Nova were apparently intoxicated. A medical report suspects Gramosolex, an insecticide poisoned their breakfast. Of the 25, five persons have died, and several others are in serious condition in hospitals in Santo Domingo and San Cristóbal. Reportedly, the foreman had a discussion at the farm prior to the workers becoming ill. The foreman is suspect because he left the farm at 10 am without having had breakfast. The case is under investigation by the homicides department of the Police. The Police told El Caribe newspaper that there is no evidence anyone was fumigating at the farm.
