Former President Joaquín Balaguer described as precipitated the decision of the Senate to approve a constitutional reform that would extend the presidential and vice presidential terms. He met yesterday with president of the Chamber of Deputies Rafaela Alburquerque and Vice President Máximo Castro, both members of his party. "Dr. Balaguer said that a constitutional reform is something that has to be meditated and analyzed by the entire country, that there needs to be a consensus of all sectors," she said. Alburquerque told the press that Balaguer also opposes the tax on advertising.
