The Dominican Medical Association announced a 24-hour strike in all public hospitals and the Dominican Institute of Social Security hospitals against Congress approving a social security bill that is not tailored to their interests. The strike is announced for Thursday, 21 December. All sectors had approved the bill that was debated for long months. Surprisingly, shortly before it was to be passed by Congress, the medical association objected it seeking new privileges for the physicians. The strike will interrupt all services with the exception of emergency services and care to seriousl ill patients.
