The powerful Fenatrado trucking union announced it would not increase cargo prices 30% as announced. A spokesman for Fenatrado said that the union would wait until the holidays are over and then study whether to put the increase into effect. He said that the increase would depend on the tax bill in the Congress. El Caribe newspaper reports that inter-urban buses have not yet increased fares. Conchos, or multi-fare paying taxis, increased fares from RD$4 to RD$5 as a result of fuel price increases.
