Miss Latin America, Grace Martins, will visit the Dominican Republic for the Miss Dominican Republic pageant on Monday, 21 May. Miss Martin is a 21-year old student of fashion at the University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. She was crowned 1 December 2000. (18 May 2001) Cibao International Airport to open in November Carlos Sully Fondeur, president of the Corporacion de Aeropuerto International Cibao, announced that Cibao airport operations will start in November 2001. Sully explained that the terminal will cater to US and Canadian traffic. It will offer passenger service for the thousands of Dominicans who travel back and forth from the provinces to the US and Canada. But its strength will be air cargo service to the United States serving the large free zone industry and farming sector of the region. (18 May 2001)
