Administrative Secretary of the Presidency, Pedro Franco Badía, visited the beach towns of Guayacanes and Juan Dolio in San Pedro de Macoris to announce the start of works to rebuild the streets and sidewalks there. Some RD$10 million will be spent to rebuild four kilometers of streets before the end of the year. President Hipolito Mejia is a frequent visitor to the area where the Presidency maintains a vacation home. (23 May 2001)
