MoneyGram Payment Systems, a leading money transfer company, announced it has signed an agreement to set up operations at Elektra’s 21 stores in the DR. According to Gene Schott, president of MoneyGram New York, LLC, the multi-year agreement provides an outlet for consumers sending or receiving funds to or from the Dominican Republic. He said most of the company’s wire transfers are sent to the DR. He said customers in the Dominican Republic can pick up funds in any Elektra location in as little as 10 minutes from any of the 37,000 MoneyGram locations in more than 150 countries around the globe.
