Tax amnesty extension announced

The Internal Revenues Department (DGII) has announced it is giving taxpayers extra time to benefit from the tax amnesty whereby residents in the DR may declare their assets and pay only a 0.5% tax on the amount declared.The deadline is 30 May 2001. The DGII is allowing those declaring their real estate properties, vehicles, boats and investment certificates to pay the tax in installments — 30% of the 0.5% tax by 30 May, 30% by 30 June and the remaining 40% by 15 December 2001.
