Jochi Vicente, president of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs (Anje), said the timing is not right for the government to aggressively take on new debt, as reported by Hoy newspaper. He pointed to the lack of order in public finances, especially in regards to government spending. There is no point going to the international market to take out sovereign bonds if we are going to waste the resources as traditionally has been done, never with the interest of increasing the productive sector of the country, said Vicente. He said the new debt will represent a problem in the short and medium range if the government does not manage its finances and spending efficiently. While as a country we understand that it is good to increase the government payroll and the number of employees, we will never be able to eliminate the exchange commission, nor carry out real social plans, he said during a press conference to announce the upcoming Anje seminar on Problems and Challenges of the Electricity Sector in the DR. The seminar is set for 6 June.
