Work begins on posting highway signs

The Ministry of Public Works began posting horizontal and vertical signs along the Azua-Barahona highway, as part of a RD$20.8 million program financed by the government of Spain. The Ministry says the program encompasses installation of signs, cats eye reflectors, safety barriers, destination indicators, and caution signs along the 1,703 kilometers of highways and secondary roads. The program should take eight months to a year to complete. (4 June 2001)
