The Dominican Republic is sending the most Fulbright Scholars to the US for graduate studies this year. Merrie Blocker, press counselor of the US Embassy, said 24 Dominicans benefited this year from a fund-raising program on behalf of large business that matched US government funding. The businessmen collected RD$13 million to help finance the US$50,000 scholarships. Since the program started in 1962, 230 Dominicans have benefited.
