Army now in charge of city avenues upkeep

Major General Polanco Salvador also told El Siglo that the government has entrusted it with the cleanliness and gardening (“ornato”) of the principal avenues of the capital and the highways that lead to the interior of the country. He said the army is now responsible for the Duarte, Las Americas and Sanchez highways. He says they have already been working as the city’s keepers. “Take a look at the cleanliness of the Avenida 27 de Febrero, Kennedy and others. That is us, the Army, we are keeping the area clean following orders of the President of the Republic,” he said.
