Increasingly, drug traffickers are recruiting children to peddle their wares and carry out errands, in spite of protection awarded to children under the law. Attorney General for Espaillat province, Juan Alberto Mendez, said in Hoy newspaper that children are also being used to peddle free drugs to their friends in northcentral Moca schools to get them hooked at an early age. The Listin Diario today carries the report of a 14-year old boy, Hector Ramon Pimentel (Garibito), who was reportedly hung and his body burned when he did not obey orders from his drug trafficking boss. The body of the teenager was found in a garbage deposit on Avenida Duarte.
