Cyberpark’s first company

IVN, a US company, is the first to begin operating in the Santo Domingo Cyber Park. IVN is using 1,000 square meters of office space and will provide computer support services, said Rosendo Alvarez III, executive director of the high tech industrial park. Alvarez forecasts it will be another 15 years before the Cyberpark is fully developed. He said work is underway to finish a US$5 million high tech building equipped with state of the art technology. The first floor of the building will be ready by August, making available 5,000 square meters. Sergio Grullon Mejia, director of the Instituto Tecnologico de las Americas, said they are now training 1,500 people in computer related fields. He said 860 teachers are being prepared to become computer professors in public schools.
