The new World Boxing Organization champion Agapito Sanchez will take a three-month break from boxing, said his manager Ricardo Maldonado. He forecast that Sanchez would defend his title on numerous occasions. He said it is possible that Sanchez could visit the DR in the near future. Sanchez won the WBO 122 lb world championship on 24 June in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sanchez knocked out world champion Colombian Jorge Pabon in the 7th round.
