A total blackout affected the DR yesterday from 4 to 7 pm. The causes of the blackout were unknown to engineer Jose Ovalles, superintendent of electricity as reported in El Siglo. The effect of blackouts in the DR is not as severe as in other countries, given the parallel power systems installed in most businesses and thousands of homes.
