Placer Dome and MIM Holding compete for Rosario Mine

Placer Dome of Canada and MIM Holding of Australia are bidding for the right to exploit the sulfide ore deposits of the Rosario Mine in Cotuí. Technical Secretary of the Presidency Rafael Calderon highlighted that the two companies have chosen to go ahead and bid despite international prices for gold being at a low. Calderon said the winner of the tender will be announced on 18 July after a team of experts studies the two proposals.
