In an interview with El Caribe newspaper, Hector Evertz denied having a purchase order from the state for US$40.9 million for Hyundai vehicles. He confirmed that his company, Hyundai Comercial Vehicles America had issued a quote but had not received a purchase order.He referred the press for comments on the difference between the sales amount mentioned by Hyundai Motors president and a letter of interest sent to his company, signed by Ramon Emilio Jimenez, to the latter. Jimenez is in charge of the Plan Renove. The program seeks to renovate public transport and union trucking transport. According to El Caribe newspaper, the commission to purchase the vehicles that is head by Jimenez sent a letter dated 18 May to Hyundai Comercial Vehicles America for the purchase of 400 minibuses and 240 buses, among other vehicles, for US$40.9 million. A Hyundai Motors press release announces the company would sell vehicles worth US$35 million to the Dominican government.
