The Ministry of Culture announced the celebration of the III International Theater Festival from 11-23 October, at a cost to the state of RD$7 million. Sixteen nations will participate in the event that will be staged at the National Theater, Bellas Artes, the Museum of History & Geography and the Gran Teatro Cibao in Santiago. Admission will be free. Actors that were hired to participate in the state-sponsored National Book Fair in April-May took advantage of the event to protest that the Ministry had not yet paid them for their work during that event.
