The Listin Diario reports that Trinidad & Tobago became the first Caricom nation to allow duty-free goods import from the Dominican Republic. The DR and the English-speaking Caribbean signed a free trade agreement in 1998 that is only being implemented now. Other Caribbean countries should follow suit no later than 31 July. Nassim Alemany of the Association of Industries made the announcement upon receiving a call from Trinidad.
