The J2 intelligence branch of the Armed Forces and the District Attorney Office of Puerto Plata confiscated 2,000 boxes of fake brand cigars over the weekend in Sosua and Cabarete. The cigars would have produced RD$6 million for the vendors. The operation follows others that have taken place in Boca Chica and Santo Domingo. The sale of fake cigars are a threat to the repute of the leading brands.
