The Association of Representing Agents and Pharmaceutical Producers denounced that the Ministry of Public Health and the government Program for Essential Medicines (Promese) are assigning imports of pharmaceuticals without bothering to hold tenders. They demanded that Minister of Public Health Jose Rodriguez Soldevila, director of Promese, Juan Francisco Benoit and director of Customs Vicente Sanchez Baret explain why the government is violating legal regulations to the effect. They say that the government is importing pharmaceuticals from China and Eastern Europe and questioned the quality of these medicines.
