The government’s construction priorities

Minister of Public Works Miguel Vargas said that the government priorities for this year are to finish the expansion of the Santiago-Navarrete highway, the new bridge over the Ozama River and the Autovia del Este that leads to San Pedro de Macoris from Santo Domingo. He said his department has underway RD$5,287 million in projects being carried out nationwide. He sad Ministry will invest RD$4,740 million to build, rebuild, improve and maintain 1,391 kilometers of highways and roads. Other important works under execution are the first phase of the Circunvalacion de San Pedro de Macoris bypass, the improvements of the Manoguayabo road, the construction of highways with loans from the World Bank, the construction of the Cirvunvalacion Norte de Santiago and the reconstruction of the Jacobo Majluta in Santo Domingo. Also the completion of the Avenida Estrella Sadhala overpass in Santiago, the extension of the Luperon and its intersections with the Independencia Avenue and the 30 de Mayo Highway and the entrance to Haina Port.
