The United Nations lists the Dominican Republic in 86th place of 160 nations in its Human Development Report 2001 released yesterday in Mexico. The report uses data from 1999. Among Latin American countries the DR only ranks above Guyana (93), El Salvador (95), Bolivia (104), Nicaragua (106), Honduras (107), Guatemala (108) and Haiti (134) in the world poverty index of 162 countries. At that time, 72.6% of the population will live in cities. Other indicators included in the report are: Life expectancy: 67.2 years Per capital income: US$5,507 Infant mortality rate: 43/1,000 births Five-year-old infant mortality rate: 49/1,000 births Literacy rate 15+years: 83.2% Access to potable water supply: 79%
