Samana gets its own sailing competition this weekend, 13-15 July, when Dominican and visiting competitors gather for the Windsurf & Hobie Cat Regatta Portillo 2001 organized by the Dominican Association of Windsurfing. Portillo Resort in Las Terrenas will be the site of the event. Pupo Alorda, president of the Dominican Association of Windsurf said that competitors are expected from Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata (Cabarete). (12 July 2001)
