The Dominican Republic defeated Canada 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22 to win the four-country world championship-qualifying volleyball meet held in the DR last week. Both countries had already locked up the two available spots for the world championships to be held next year in Germany after each winning their first two matches. The Canadians were ranked 16th in the world, at the start of the event, the Dominicans 17th.
