Government reaches an agreement with teachers union

The government and the public school teachers union, ADP, reached an agreement that would postpone union wage increase demands for next year. The government instead offers to build 13,360 dwellings for the public school teachers through the Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda, Banco Nacional de la Vivienda and the Instituto de Auxilios y Vivienda. For the housing projects, the government would make available 1 million square meters of property of the State Sugar Council and Dominican Agrarian Institute. The government also committed to pay RD$5 million on the ADP debt with the Banco de Reservas.
