600 kilos of cocaine confiscated yesterday

The National Drug Control Department (CNCD) confiscated 600 kilos of cocaine yesterday appraised at RD$300 million. The operation was carried out in coordination with agents of the US Drug Enforcement Administration. Two Colombians, Cesar Augusto Cano Cardona and Jose Antonio Guarin Castro, where arrested along with US citizen John Iglesias. Jacobo Mateo Moquete, spokesman for the CNCD said that the foreigners were arrested on Monday morning at the 6 de Noviembre-San Cristobal highway driving a Toyota Road Runner vehicle. Five hundred seventy three packages of contain that had entered by way of Playa Caracoles in southwestern Azua were confiscated. The cargo was scheduled to be shipped to Puerto Rico.
