DR1 news brief yesterday carried the story of the DR defeat of Canada to qualify first for a world championship. Inadvertently, the story, a follow up to a brief published last Friday, did not tell readers in what sport! We thank the many readers that wrote in to point this out. We immediately made the correction on the web page. To those left with the doubt, the DR defeated Canada 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22 in women’s volleyball. Both Canada and the DR won berths to play in the world volleyball championship to be held in Germany next year.
