The DR will host the Pan American Weight Lifting Championships next week in Santo Domingo. The event will take place Wednesday, 25 July through Monday, 30 July. The event will be held at the auditorium of the Ministry of Public Works. Argentina, Canada Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, United States and Venezuela have confirmed their participation. Organizers are awaiting the confirmation of the participation of Brazil, Haiti, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. (19 July 2001)
